About the role
n
Optimising Abilities is an NDIS-registered provider delivering values-driven support across South-East Queensland. We're seeking a proactive, self-directed Disability Support Worker for a one-on-one, in-home role in Brisbane's eastern suburbs, supporting a participant with Autism Spectrum Disorder and a Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profile. Our approach is built on doing things with people, not for them.

Key responsibilities

Provide patient, consistent in-home support, building rapport over time and approaching each day as a fresh start
n
Apply our "teach-prompt-fade" method to support sustainable, long-term growth
n
Maintain the home during quieter periods: deep cleaning, monitoring supplies, and auditing safety essentials (first aid kits,



go-bags, emergency and car safety kits, staff supplies)
n
Research and propose future experiences aligned to the participant's interests (art, diamond art, Stitch), submitting ideas to management in advance
n
Complete accurate, timely documentation, shift notes, and reporting
n
Engage in the participant's artistic hobbies and assist with daily grooming, including braiding long dark hair
n
Work autonomously while maintaining regular contact with your Team Leader
n
Experience supporting people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and PDA profiles
n

Current NDIS Worker Screening Card and Working with Children Card (Blue Card)
n
First Aid & CPR certificate
n
Completed NDIS modules: Orientation, Induction, Protected Eating, and Safe Communication
