An opportunity has presented itself for a Trainee Locomotive Driver to join our team in Broken Hill, New South Wales. This is a rare opportunity to begin a rewarding career in rail, receiving comprehensive training while earning a competitive income.

What You'll Do
n
Develop the skills and knowledge required to safely operate locomotives and trains through a structured traineeship program.
n
Reporting to the Supervisor, you will:
n
n
Complete a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Train Driving through our accelerated trainee program
n
Undertake practical and theoretical training in locomotive and train operations
n
Learn to prepare, manage and operate locomotives and trains safely and efficiently
n
Follow operational procedures and safety standards to ensure safe service delivery
n
Work as part of a train crew supporting freight services across the network
n
Participate in competency-based assessments and ongoing development activities
n




Work a rotating 24/7 roster including nights, weekends and public holidays
n
Travel and stay away from home when required as part of operational requirements
n

A strong commitment to safety and safe work practices

Ability to work effectively within a team environment

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
n
Basic computer literacy and confidence using technology
n
A willingness to learn and develop new skills
n
Flexibility to work a highly variable roster including shift work
n
Capacity to work away from home for varying periods when required
n
A current unrestricted C Class Driver's Licence
n
Previous experience in shift work, transport, logistics, mining, defence or similar industries will be highly regarded, although not essential
n
