LGBTIQA+ Peer Volunteer Role Summary:
Diverse Voices, established in ****, has a long and proud history of volunteering which carries through to today.
Our volunteers are an integral and valued part of our small, community led LGBTIQA+ organisation.

We are holding a Volunteer Information Session on Saturday 5th September from 10am to 1pm at our office in Woolloongabba.

We are currently preparing for our next intake of volunteers and are wanting to hear from interested folks across our communities.
We have several different ways to volunteer, depending on time commitment, interests, and location.
Community events including pride events, social events and supporting other LGBTIQA+ events as peer supporters
Community engagement initiatives and campaigns
Community outreach activities and pop-up stalls
Peer connection and social activities onsite and by outreach with the opportunity to be supported to bring ideas, plan and implement community social and connection events and activities as a one off, or regular event
Peer support via telephone and webchat(for QLife, as Queensland's QLife partner organisation)

Meeting current people who are part of the LGBTIQA+ community and strengthening community connection (both for self and for others)
Building confidence and skills (e.g. providing phone peer support while studying counselling, supporting community event stalls and building confidence in speaking with community members and event organisation)
Supporting the inclusion and belonging of people in LGBTIQA+ communities
We also offer our volunteers training and development opportunities at including:
Specialised volunteer intake and onboarding support
safeTALK suicide intervention training
regular professional development and training opportunities throughout the year, which we invite all active volunteers to
mentoring and support throughout your volunteer journey
About You:
A lived experience of being part of the LGBTIQA+SB community.
A want to contribute to the connection, inclusion, belonging, safety and wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ people and communities through volunteering.
Mandatory Requirements
Willingness to obtain a National Police Check (we will fund this for successful applicants);relevant criminal history only.
Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or willingness to obtain with our support.
