About the Role
n
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Infrastructure Cleansing Officer to help maintain the cleanliness and appearance of our city. This hands-on role involves operating mechanical plant and equipment, performing a variety of cleansing and maintenance tasks, and delivering high-quality service to the community. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will contribute to a clean, safe and welcoming environment while upholding organisational standards and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
n
Provide effective cleansing of managed public outdoor areas which includes townships, shopping centres, civic facilities, car parks, footpaths, shared paths, laneways and other various areas within the municipality.
n
Carry out programmed and reactive inspections of infrastructure.
n
Operate various footpath sweeping and other mechanical sweeping and cleaning devices.
n
Collect and dispose of dead animals, hazards, general dumped waste and transport and move a range of materials.
n
Assist in the general maintenance and enhancement of a variety of civil infrastructure and facilities.
n
Exercise initiative to respond flexibly to situations that may arise within public areas to maintain high standards of cleanliness and appearance.
n
Perform manual handling tasks such as lifting, digging, raking, and sweeping and the use of mechanical and electrical tools.
n
Correctly use and maintain plant and equipment provided, including personal protective equipment, in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and workplace health and safety policies, procedures and practices.
n
Operate vehicles and tow plant as required in a safe, competent and responsible manner in accordance with the Road Traffic Regulations and Policies.
n




Embrace and use new equipment to assist in the provision of services.
n
Maintain good working relationships and deal cooperatively with team members and members of the public.
n
Assist other team members from within the team and in other teams in general operations and maintenance functions.
n
Carry out other duties as directed by Cleansing Coordinator within the skills and abilities of a position at this level.
n
Key Requirements:
n
Current Victorian Driver's Licence (HR Licence preferred).
n
Proven ability to safely and efficiently operate medium mechanical plant and equipment.
n
Experience performing routine maintenance on minor plant and equipment.
n
Ability to work diligently, follow established procedures and use discretion when required.
n
Strong reliability, punctuality and teamwork skills.
n
Effective communication skills with the ability to engage courteously with the public.
n
Basic administrative and computer skills.
n
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and participate in rostered shifts, including weekends, public holidays and potential 24-hour rotating shifts.
n
Flexibility in responding to changing work tasks, schedules and operational demands.
n
Licences and Experience:
n
Experience in township cleansing activities or similar activities in a busy environment.
n
Basic knowledge and experience of graffiti removal.
n
Knowledge of the use and protected handling of a variety of solvents, cleaners, waste and sharps disposal.
n
Demonstrated experience in the operation of light mobile plant, trucks and material handling equipment.
n
Base level mechanical skills to enable general identification of equipment faults and failures and the ability to undertake standard maintenance and minor repair activity.
