Job Description
Qualified Small Engine Mechanic
n $91,000 + Super | Overtime | Bonus Potential
n
We are a busy, established outdoor power equipment dealership in Penrith looking for an experienced small engine / OPE mechanic to join our team.
n
This is a great opportunity for someone who knows their way around a workshop, works efficiently without needing to be micromanaged, and wants to be part of a workplace that is professional, productive and genuinely enjoyable to work in.
n
We specialise in premium brands including STIHL, Cub Cadet, Atom and Masport.
n
The Role
n
You will primarily be responsible for diagnosing, servicing and repairing a wide range of 2-stroke and 4-stroke equipment, including:
n
n
Chainsaws and concrete saws
n
Lawn mowers and ride-on mowers
n
Brushcutters, blowers and hedge trimmers
n
Pumps and other outdoor power equipment
n
n
You will be expected to confidently diagnose faults, identify required parts and complete repairs efficiently and to a high standard.
n
This is predominantly a workshop-based role, however customer service is an important part of the position. You must be comfortable speaking with customers, explaining repairs and assisting in the retail store when required.
n
What We're Looking For
n
Previous experience in a lawn mower dealership, outdoor power equipment workshop or small engine business is essential.
n
We may also consider highly experienced candidates from closely related industries such as motorcycle repair.
n
The ideal candidate will:
n
n
Be confident repairing both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines
n
Be a capable fault-finder and diagnostician
n
Work efficiently with minimal supervision
n
Be reliable, organised and self-motivated
n
Take pride in completing repairs properly the first time
n
Be comfortable dealing with customers when required
n
Be confident sourcing and cross-referencing parts through supplier platforms such as STIHL, MTD, Gripske, Jakmax and Briggs & Stratton, considering availability, price and turnaround time
n
n
STIHL & Industry Experience
n
STIHL dealership experience is highly regarded.
n
Candidates who have completed STIHL technical training, including Bronze, Silver and/or Gold, will be particularly attractive to us.
n
Experience using Biscount
dealership/workshop
software is also a significant advantage.
n
Your technical experience, STIHL training, Biscount knowledge and ability to step into the role with minimal training will influence your starting remuneration.
n
What We Offer
n
For the right candidate:
n
$91,000 + superannuation
n
Plus:
n
n
Paid overtime opportunities
n
Potential performance bonuses
n
Permanent full-time employment
n
Secure, established business
n
Premium brands and varied mechanical work
n
A small, supportive team
n
Genuine autonomy without unnecessary micromanagement
n
n
We work hard, but we also enjoy coming to work.
n
Our workplace is friendly, light-hearted and relaxed when it can be, while still being professional and focused when things need to get done.
n
We are looking for someone who fits that balance — someone who can have a laugh, work well with a small team and still take pride in being productive and doing quality work.
n
Is This You?
n
If you are currently working in a mower shop, STIHL dealership, OPE workshop or similar small-engine business and are considering your next move, we'd love to hear from you.
n
We are prepared to wait for the right person rather than simply fill the position.
n
Applicants without relevant small-engine or OPE workshop experience are unlikely to be suitable.
n
All applications and enquiries will be treated confidentially.
n
Apply through SEEK with your resume and a brief summary of your relevant experience.
