Are you an experienced social worker passionate about supporting victim-survivors of sexual violence and improving access to justice through trauma-informed, survivor-centred practice?
AFLSQ is seeking a Social Worker/case worker to join the new Sexual Violence Advocacy and Legal Service (SVALS), a specialist statewide service delivering integrated legal and social support to victim-survivors of sexual assault across Queensland.
SVALS will be delivered along with three partner organisations.
The service combines legal assistance, justice system navigation and multidisciplinary support to help victim-survivors access information, understand their options and navigate complex systems in ways that prioritise safety, choice and dignity.
What makes this role unique?
This is a rare opportunity to help establish and shape a new specialist statewide service from the ground up.
As the inaugural Social/Case Worker in the AFLSQ division of SVALS, you will work alongside specialist lawyers in a genuinely multidisciplinary practice model.
Together, you will support victim-survivors before, during and after engagement with the justice system, providing practical and emotional support, advocacy, justice system navigation, service coordination and safety-focused interventions.
You will have the opportunity to work at the intersection of trauma recovery, rights-based practice and access to justice.
You will support victim-survivors engaging with police, courts, restorative justice pathways and other systems.
You will also contribute to stakeholder partnerships, workforce capability building, community education, secondary consultation and the development of Queensland's response to sexual violence.

This role is ideal for an experienced social/case worker seeking meaningful impact, collaborative practice and the opportunity to be part of a significant reform initiative in Queensland.
Key responsibilities
Provide trauma-informed, survivor-centred social/case work support to victim-survivors of sexual violence, including support with safety planning, stability, recovery and justice-related goals
Partner with lawyers and other services to provide coordinated support across legal and social needs, including joint case planning, shared risk identification and multidisciplinary case discussions
Assist clients to understand and engage with justice system processes before, during and after key stages, while responding to psychosocial, practical and systemic barriers to participation
Facilitate warm referrals and coordinated pathways across health, counselling, victim support, housing, financial and community services, including through helpline, in-person, co-located and integrated service settings
Provide supervision and guidance to social support staff, students or volunteers as required; contribute to reflective practice, safe and sustainable work practices, service development, stakeholder engagement, community education and systemic advocacy
About you
Degree qualification in Social Work or equivalent relevant qualification, or extensive demonstrated experience in a similar multidisciplinary case work role
Three to five year's experience in the provision of social/case work services or similar professional human services work
Open c-class drivers licence, some travel is required
Benefits
A supportive and inclusive workplace
Versatile work location (Roma, Murgon, Toowoomba or Gympie)
Excellent tax-free salary packaging options (up to $15,900)
