Graduate Engineer / Scientist - Environment (Feb ****)

The Role
n
As a Graduate at SMEC, you'll be part of a high-impact talent group, contributing to the delivery of major infrastructure projects alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists.

Our two-year Graduate Development Program (GDP) is designed to accelerate your growth — combining hands‐on project experience with structured learning, mentoring, and exposure across teams and disciplines.
n
Once completed, successful Graduates move along our Career Pathways, transitioning to their Qualified title (either 'Graduate' or 'Scientist' depending on the technical discipline) and then onwards. Growth is a balanced blend of experience, tenure, development, goals and desired trajectory.

Key responsibilities:
n
You'll support the delivery of environmental projects from day one — contributing to analysis,
fieldwork and documentation while learning from experienced professionals and gaining exposure to project and stakeholder delivery.
n
n
Contribute to environmental projects by supporting technical tasks, data collection and analysis to inform project outcomes
n
Assist in the preparation of environmental reports, assessments and project documentation to support compliance and delivery
n
Participate in fieldwork and site investigations, including environmental monitoring and data gathering activities
n
Collaborate with internal teams, clients and stakeholders to support coordinated and high‐quality project delivery
n
Develop your technical and consulting skills by learning and applying environmental standards, regulations and best practice through structured and on‐the‐job experience
n

About You
n
You're a motivated Graduate who enjoys problem‐solving, working in teams, and contributing to real‐world projects.
n
You will bring:
n
n
Relevant degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
n
Well‐developed analytical and problem‐solving skills with the ability to interpret environmental data and technical information
n
Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to contribute to reports and work within collaborative project teams
n
n
