Associate Nurse Unit Manager - Acute Ward (Daylesford)

Daylesford Hospital is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join our Acute Ward leadership team. This is an excellent prospect for a registered nurse with strong clinical skills and a passion for leadership to contribute to the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care within our rural health service.

Working alongside the Nurse Unit Manager, the ANUM plays a key role in supporting day-to-day ward operations, coordinating patient care, mentoring staff, and fostering a positive team culture.

About the Role
n
As the Associate Nurse Unit Manager, you will:
n
n
Provide clinical leadership and operational support across the Acute Ward.
n
Coordinate patient flow and staffing allocation during shifts.
n
Support and mentor nursing staff, students, and graduate nurses.
n
Promote evidence-based practice and person-centred care.
n
Assist with quality improvement initiatives, accreditation activities, and risk management.
n
Support workforce planning and rostering processes.
n
Act in the Nurse Unit Manager role during periods of leave and absence.
n
Roster: Rotating roster including mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends, and public holidays as required
n
Classification: Associate Nurse Unit Manager (as per applicable Enterprise Agreement)
n
n
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the leadership roster and be flexible in supporting the operational requirements of a 24-hour Acute Ward service.
n
About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
n
Minimum 5 years experience in an acute hospital setting
n
Current Advanced Life Support certification
n
Demonstrated leadership capability and ability to coordinate shifts effectively.
n
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
n
Sound clinical assessment and decision-making abilities.
n
Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
n
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
n
Postgraduate qualification in Nursing, Leadership, or a related discipline.
n
Previous experience in a Nurse-in-Charge or ANUM position.
n
Experience working within a rural or regional health service.
n
Knowledge of NSQHS Standards and quality frameworks.
n
