About the position
n
We are seeking applications for multiple Sessional & EmergencyTeacher positions to deliver relevant and engaging EAL tuitionprograms to AMES Australia's culturally and linguistically diverse(CALD) adult learners.
n
To be considered for this position, you will be able todemonstrate the following key selection criteria:
n
n
A teaching qualification that includes an appropriate TESOLmethodology strand or a degree or equivalent plus anappropriate postgraduate TESOL method. 'Appropriate TESOLqualification' must include at least 100 hours of TESOL methodand a supervised practicum of at least 60 hours.
n
Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment(TAE)
n
For some Teaching positions, where bilingual teaching isintegral to the role, there will be a requirement for theincumbent to be fluent in the relevant language in all 4 macroskills - speaking, listening, reading and writing. This will becommunicated in the position advertisement.
n
For some Teaching positions where a
vocationalqualification
is required, this will be communicated in theposition advertisement.
n




Knowledge of the principles of language pedagogy and adultlearning and their application in the design of programs andlearning activities that address the diverse
learningbackgrounds,
needs and expectations of CALD clients
n
Demonstrated basic knowledge of relevant
accreditedcurricula
and training packages, including familiarity withappropriate assessment strategies/tools and learning resources,and the ability to develop contextualised learning programsthat achieve and document learner outcomes
n
Demonstrated ability to assess language level
andsettlement/learning
needs of students
n
Ability to develop and use a broad range of teachingstrategies and resources, including ICT, to foster
independentlearning
and optimize learning outcomes for diverse learnergroups
n
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of diverse CALDclient communities, including their settlement experiences,needs and aspirations and awareness of agencies that supporttheir broader settlement goals
n
Working knowledge of the national training framework andquality management principles and systems
n
Knowledge of WH&S; principles and practice
n
