I am working with a leading Australian lender on a newly created Senior Portfolio Forecasting Analyst position that will play a critical role in shaping the future direction of the business. This is a unique opportunity to establish a new capability within the organisation, sitting at the intersection of Credit Risk, Finance, Strategy and Commercial Analytics.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex business problems, forecasting future outcomes and influencing strategic decisions through data-driven insights.

The Opportunity
n
As a Senior Portfolio Forecasting Analyst, you will be responsible for forecasting how the lending portfolio will evolve over the next ***** months and helping the business understand the commercial implications of those changes.
n
Working closely with senior stakeholders across Risk, Finance, Operations and Product, you'll analyse customer behaviour, portfolio performance, risk trends, channel mix, industry exposures and macroeconomic factors to develop forward-looking insights that support lending strategy, financial planning and sustainable growth.
n
This is not a traditional reporting role. You'll have the opportunity to build and shape a capability from the ground up, with significant visibility across the organisation and direct influence on strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Develop and maintain portfolio forecasting models that project portfolio growth, composition, performance and expected losses.
n




Build scenario and sensitivity analyses to assess the impact of changes in credit policy, pricing, channel mix, customer behaviour and economic conditions.
n
Partner with Finance to incorporate portfolio forecasts into financial planning and business forecasting processes.
n
Identify leading indicators, emerging trends and potential portfolio risks before they impact performance.
n
Deliver commercial insights and recommendations that support growth, profitability and risk management objectives.
n
Analyse portfolio performance across customer segments, industries and acquisition channels.
n
Support the ongoing development of provisioning and expected loss forecasting methodologies.
n
Present insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders and executive leadership.
n
Help establish and mature a recent organisational capability within the business.

About You
n
To be successful, you'll bring:
n
n
5+ years' experience in an analytical, commercial or strategic role.
n
Strong forecasting, modelling and problem-solving capability.
n
Advanced Excel and SQL skills.
n
Experience with R, SAS, Python or similar analytical tools a big plus.
n
The ability to translate complex analysis into practical business recommendations.
n
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
n
A commercial mindset and genuine curiosity about how businesses grow and manage risk.
