Solution Architect (IAM) - Enterprise IAM Architecture, Governance & Identity Uplift

Location: ACT-Based (Hybrid)

Security Clearance: NV1 (Mandatory)

Contract Length: Until the 30 June, **** + 12 Month Extension (Based on the sole discretion of the Department)

n
About the Position
n
Identity sits across almost every part of a contemporary enterprise environment.
n
This role is about making sure it is designed as one connected capability.
n
Working within a complex, mission-critical ICT environment, you'll lead the strategic design and maturity uplift of enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) across workforce, privileged, service, application and external identity domains.
n
The work spans more than designing individual IAM solutions. You'll define the target-state architecture, roadmaps, standards and reusable patterns that guide how identity operates across cloud and on-premises environments, while ensuring security, resilience and operational requirements remain connected to the architecture.
n
There is also a genuine operational dimension. At key periods, demand across identity, access design, onboarding assurance and operational support increases significantly, making scalability and readiness important considerations in how the capability is designed.
n
What You'll Do
n
n
Lead the development and ongoing governance of enterprise identity architecture, roadmaps, standards, reference patterns and architectural decisions.
n
Architect secure identity solutions across Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, federation, SSO, conditional access, MFA and identity governance.
n
Define identity lifecycle, privileged access, RBAC/ABAC, entitlement management and integration approaches across cloud, SaaS and on-premises environments.
n
Provide architecture assurance and authoritative advice to senior stakeholders while guiding technical teams on practical IAM implementation.
n
n
What We Are Looking For
n
n
Demonstrated experience leading enterprise IAM architecture across complex ICT environments, rather than solely implementing or administering identity platforms.
n
Deep understanding of identity lifecycle management, privileged access, least privilege, entitlement governance and contemporary authentication and access patterns.
n
Proven ability to translate business, cyber security and operational requirements into practical architecture, standards, roadmaps and implementation guidance.
n
Strong technical leadership and stakeholder influence, including experience working with senior executives, architects, technical teams and external providers.
n
n
Technology & Workplace
n
n
SSO, Federation, MFA & Conditional Access
n
PAM, RBAC/ABAC & Identity Governance
n
Hybrid Cloud, Zero Trust & Cyber Security Architecture
n
n
A Quick Note Before You Apply
n
This role is unlikely to suit candidates whose background is primarily IAM administration, engineering or implementation without broader ownership of identity architecture, governance and strategic direction.
n
The stronger fit is someone who can move between architecture and operational reality: setting the identity direction, making defensible architectural decisions and helping delivery teams apply those patterns consistently across a complex enterprise environment.
n
Applicants must be Australian Citizens, hold a minimum NV1 Security Clearance.
n
Note: The brief also notes that workloads may increase significantly during key operational events, including potential work outside standard business hours.
