Grounds and Maintenance Officer
n

The Opportunity
n
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Grounds and Maintenance Officer to join our school community, working 18 to 25 hours per week (negotiable).
n
Reporting to the school's designated leader, you will play an important role in maintaining secure, functional and welcoming school facilities and grounds that support student learning and wellbeing.
n
This hands-on position is responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of buildings, grounds, sporting areas and equipment, ensuring the school environment remains well-presented, compliant and fit for purpose. The role offers variety, autonomy and the opportunity to contribute positively to the life of a Catholic school community.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Maintain and enhance school grounds, gardens, landscaped areas and sporting facilities.
n
Perform routine maintenance, repairs and general upkeep of buildings, facilities and equipment.
n
Safely operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment, machinery and power tools, including ride-on mowers and garden equipment.
n
Support waste management processes, including rubbish and recycling collection schedules.
n
Coordinate and liaise with contractors and service providers, ensuring site induction and compliance requirements are met.
n
Assist with workplace inspections, hazard identification and implementation of corrective actions in line with Work Health and Safety requirements.
n
Respond to maintenance issues, emergencies and security matters as required, including occasional out-of-hours duties.
n
Contribute positively to the wider school community through participation in school activities, training and professional development.

About You
n
You are a practical and reliable professional with experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, horticulture, trade-related work or facility maintenance. You take pride in maintaining high standards and have a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
n
You will demonstrate:
n
n
Experience in grounds, garden, turf or building maintenance environments.
n
Knowledge of gardening practices, turf management and the safe operation of plant and equipment.
n
The ability to work independently under general supervision while managing competing priorities.
n
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to working with staff, students and contractors.
n
Sound computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications.
n
A demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety and safe work practices.
n
Relevant qualifications or experience in horticulture, gardening, construction, maintenance or a related trade.
n
A current Working with Children Check and the ability to meet Catholic Education South Australia compliance requirements.
