About the role
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced fabricator who can confidently supervise a workshop team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day fabrication and production. You will play a key role in coordinating workshop activities, maintaining productivity and quality, supporting your team, and ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently and to specification.
Key responsibilities
Allocate jobs and coordinate daily workloads across the workshop
Supervise and support workshop staff, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to required standards
Monitor job progress, production schedules, deadlines and quality checks
Coordinate workflow between fabrication, assembly and other workshop activities
Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, specifications and fabrication requirements
Assess job requirements, including materials, labour, equipment and estimated timeframes
Identify and resolve fabrication, production and workflow issues
Monitor productivity and identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency
Liaise with management regarding job progress, priorities, resourcing and potential delays




Provide practical guidance, training and support to workshop employees
About you
Has solid experience in steel fabrication and manufacturing
Has previous experience as a Leading Hand, Foreperson, Senior Fabricator or similar
Has strong practical fabrication and welding skills
Has a sound understanding of fabrication processes, production planning and quality control
Can accurately assess fabrication requirements, materials, labour and job timeframes
Has demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and support a workshop team
Is confident making decisions and solving problems in a busy production workplace
Has excellent communication and organisational skills
Has a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Is reliable, proactive and willing to take ownership of daily workshop operations
