About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanic to join our growing team at Gladstone Fleet Maintenance in Gladstone, QLD ****. This is a full-time position where you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing a diverse range of vehicles for our valued fleet clients. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs and routine maintenance on vehicles, ensuring they meet safety standards and operate at optimal performance. Your technical expertise and attention to detail will be instrumental in supporting our reputation for quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

What you'll be doing
n
Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections and diagnostic testing to identify mechanical faults and maintenance requirements
n
Perform routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups and tyre rotations
n
Execute repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension components and electrical systems
n
Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and determine appropriate remedial action
n
Document all work completed, including parts used and labour hours, ensuring accurate record-keeping
n
Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment, adhering to health and safety standards
n
Communicate effectively with customers and management regarding vehicle condition, required repairs and estimated timelines
n




Ensure all work is completed to the highest quality standards and meets relevant safety regulations
n
Collaborate with team members to meet scheduling demands and service delivery targets
n
What we're looking for
n
Completed apprenticeship or formal qualification in automotive mechanics or equivalent practical experience
n
Current driver's licence and ability to drive various vehicle types for testing and delivery purposes
n
Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment, hand tools and power tools commonly used in automotive repair
n
Sound knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension and electrical components
n
Strong problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude with attention to detail
n
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to clients in clear terms
n
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
n
Commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety compliance
n
Experience working on fleet vehicles or commercial vehicles is highly desirable
n
Familiarity with workshop management systems and digital recordkeeping
