The Role

We are seeking a Scientific Assistant to support agricultural research and development activities across laboratory, glasshouse and field environments.
n
This is a casual ongoing position based in Toowoomba, offering an opportunity to work across a variety of practical scientific and agricultural research activities.
n
You will work closely with research staff to support laboratory processing, glasshouse activities, field trials, sample collection, and data management.
n
Key Responsibilities
n

Assist with laboratory processing and analysis of samples.
n
Support glasshouse and field-based research trials.
n
Maintain plants and research materials for experimental work.
n
Collect, record and manage trial data in accordance with research protocols.
n
Conduct field sampling and monitoring activities.
n
Operate safely and comply with workplace health and safety requirements.
n
Work collaboratively with research staff and stakeholders.
n
Contribute to quality assurance processes and scientific integrity standards.
n

The Candidate
n
n
Experience assisting with laboratory, agricultural, environmental, or scientific research activities.
n
Solid organisational skills and attention to detail.
n
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
n
Good verbal and written communication skills.
n
A practical approach to problem-solving and completing tasks.
n
The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
n
Current unrestricted Queensland "C" Class Driver Licence.
n
Willingness to undertake regional travel, including occasional overnight stays.
n
Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, lifting, bending, and working in field environments.
n
Commitment to workplace health and safety requirements.
