The Client

Egans Group employs over 180 people and operates a significant fleet of specialist equipment across Australia. Their capabilities span over plant and equipment hire (wet and dry), labour hire and project supervision.

This reputable company now seek a skilled and experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic to join their team in East Keilor in Victoria.
n
The Role
n
This is a full‐time basis with an annual salary of $79,500 to $85,000, depending on experience, plus superannuation.
n
Responsibilities
n
n
Ensure diesel engines in trucks, buses, and heavy vehicles are operating efficiently.
n
Use specialized tools and knowledge to find issues within diesel engines and associated systems.
n
Carefully take apart engines and transmission systems to inspect and repair them.
n
Identify parts that are worn out or defective and replace them to maintain engine performance.
n
Use manufacturer's service manuals and guidelines to ensure repairs and maintenance are performed correctly.
n
Conduct regular maintenance checks and services like oil changes, lubrications, and engine tune‐ups.
n
Carry out maintenance and repairs with an eye on meeting environmental standards and regulations.
n
Put back together engines and their components after maintenance or repair work is complete.
n
Ensure that parts are working correctly after repair by testing and making necessary adjustments.
n
Utilize computerized diagnostic tools to accurately identify issues with diesel engines and components.
n
Perform thorough inspections of vehicles to determine if they meet the required safety standards.
n
Provide certification that vehicles have passed all necessary inspections and are safe for the road.
n
Offer professional advice on repairs or maintenance needed for vehicles to meet road safety standards.
n
Keep track of parts inventory and order necessary components to ensure repairs are not delayed.
n
Continuously learn and apply the latest industry standards and technological advancements in diesel engine maintenance and repair.

Requirements
n
n
Relevant technical education or certification in diesel motor mechanics or a related field.
n
At least 12 months of proven experience as a Fitter, ideally with a background in equipment assembly and maintenance.
n
At least 12 months of proven experience in design, operation, and maintenance of diesel engines, including fuel injection systems and exhaust systems.
n
At least 12 months of proven experience to use diagnostic equipment and software to identify and resolve issues with diesel engines and related systems.
n
At least 12 months of proven experience in repairing and replacing faulty parts such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves, and bushings.
n
Solid understanding of electrical systems within diesel vehicles, including starters, alternators, and electronic control units (ECUs).
n
At least 12 months of proven experience to work with hydraulic systems, which are often part of heavy diesel machinery, including understanding their operation and repair.
n
Must have at least 12 months of basic welding skills for fabricating parts or repairing equipment.
n
Knowledge of routine maintenance procedures to keep vehicles and equipment running smoothly and prevent breakdowns.
n
Familiarity with emission control systems and regulations, including how to maintain and repair these systems to comply with environmental standards.
n
Commitment to adhering to safety protocols and regulations in all aspects of the job.
n
Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members, clients, and project stakeholders.
n
Flexibility and adaptability to work on a variety of projects and tasks.
n
Strong communication, attention to details and organisational skills
