PAL is looking for an experienced Manager to own a $600K+ SME portfolio, lead a small team and work directly with our Director as a genuine 2IC. You'll have a seat at the leadership table, real autonomy and a explicit path to partnership if that's where you want to go.

What you'll own:
n
In a nutshell - run a portfolio like an owner, build the next generation of PAL leaders and operate as the Director's genuine 2IC.

Run your portfolio like a business
n
Own a significant SME client portfolio ($600K fee base within 12 months)
n
Advise across tax planning, structures, CGT, Division 7A, estate planning and advisory
n
Stay across WIP, billing, write-offs, capacity and opportunities to add value
n
Build great people
n
Lead and coach a small team of accountants (2 direct reports within 12 months)
n
Delegate well and keep workflow moving
n
Give clear feedback and help people step up
n
Help lead PAL
n
Work directly with our Director as a genuine 2IC
n
Contribute to how PAL operates, grows and improves
n
Bring ideas, make good calls and help turn them into action

What you'll bring:
n
The important stuff
n
CA or CPA qualified
n
Around 10+ years' experience in Australian public practice
n
Strong Business Services & Tax experience across complex SME groups
n
Proven experience managing client relationships, portfolios and workflow
n
At least 2 years' experience leading, coaching or managing accountants
n
Strong technical judgement across tax planning, structures, CGT, Division 7A and complex group matters
n
Currently based in Australia with full working rights
n
And just as importantly
n
Low ego, high standards

Commercially minded and comfortable making decisions
n
Confident with clients and good at building relationships
n
Genuinely enjoys developing people
n
Takes ownership and follows things through
n
Brings solutions and ideas, not just a beautifully formatted list of problem

Salary:
n
$120K to $160K+ salary, depending on your experience, capability and the level of responsibility you're ready to own.
n
We're open to strong Managers through to Associate Director-level candidates, with the scope of the role and package tailored accordingly.
