About the Opportunity
n
At Programmed Electrical Technologies, we deliver critical electrical and communications solutions across complex, secure environments. With a strong and growing pipeline of Defence project work, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support delivery across a well-established and strategically important Defence program.
n
This is a growth role within an expanding portfolio, offering the opportunity to deliver projects that directly support essential operations across multiple sites. You'll work closely with Defence stakeholders, take ownership of end-to-end delivery, and play a key role in driving outcomes.
n
Based in Artarmon, this is a hands-on position where you'll lead from the front, manage key relationships,
and contribute to the ongoing growth of our Defence capability. You'll also play a key role in mentoring junior team members while supporting the continued growth of the Defence portfolio.
n
Key responsibilities include:
n
n
Lead the end-to-end delivery of electrical and communications projects, from planning through to completion and handover
n
Coordinate technicians, leading hands, apprentices, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure effective delivery
n
Prepare cost estimates, pricing, and support tender submissions
n
Monitor budgets, track financial performance, and manage variations
n
Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are achieved
n
Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with Defence stakeholders and clients
n
Provide day-to-day leadership, mentoring, and support to site-based teams
n
Ensure all works are delivered in line with safety, quality, and compliance requirements
n
Contribute to continuous improvement and ongoing growth across the Defence portfolio
n
n
About You
n
You are an experienced Project Manager with a strong technical foundation in electrical or communications, comfortable working in structured, high-accountability environments. You're confident taking ownership, leading teams on the ground, and delivering projects from concept through to completion.
n
You will bring:
n
n
Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering electrical and/or communications projects
n
A Grade Electrical License, with the ability to understand and support delivery on site
n
Practical experience with estimating, quoting,
and managing technical project delivery
n
Strong commercial awareness, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
n
Experience managing multiple concurrent projects across varying complexity
n
Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience mentoring and guiding technicians or trades-based teams
n
Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build trusted relationships
n
Excellent organisational and problem-solving ability, with a calm approach under pressure
n
Australian Citizenship (mandatory) and the ability to obtain Defence security clearance
n
n
ESSENTIAL REQUIRMENTS:
n
n
Hands-on background in electrical and/or communications
n
Demonstrated experience delivering projects in a Project Manager capacity within similar environments
n
Ability to pass Defence-related background checks, including Police clearance (NV1 clearance highly regarded, but can be supported for the right candidate)
