Job Description
Support the day-to-day operations and lead the onsite mechanical effort on Defence and infrastructure projects. This role suits a mechanical engineer with genuine on-site experience; someone who interpret the drawings and specification and understands how the work comes together on the ground.

The role bridges design and construction: you interpret the client's design and specifications, then coordinate and deliver the work on site. Mechanical and protective‐coatings scopes typically run together, so an understanding of both is a real advantage.

Key responsibilities
n
n
Read and interpret mechanical and structural drawings, specifications and work packs; mark up as‐builts and raise RFIs.
n
Provide mechanical support on site during fitting, installation, assembly, alignment and mechanical works.
n
Compile and create QA/QC documentation; prepare project plans, programmes (Gantt) and scopes.
n
Carry out quantity take-offs and project procurement.
n
Coordinate the direct labour workforce, suppliers and subcontractors.
n
Provide advice on technical and engineering issues, and liaise with the client to resolve them.
n
Coordinate mechanical works alongside surface preparation and protective coatings scopes.
n
Ensure compliance with HSEQ requirements (ISO ******************** and PCCP).
n
Maintain the project sites, premises, plant and equipment.
n
Facilitate regular project meetings and report to the Project Manager.

About you
n
n
A degree or tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering.




n
Practical on‐site experience: you understand how the work goes together on the ground.
n
Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work packs.
n
5+ years' relevant experience (mechanical infrastructure upgrades, asset remediation,
civil/infrastructure
or defence).
n
Sound understanding of engineering principles.
n
Good communication and report‐writing skills; competent with MS Office and MS Project.
n
Project delivery skills: budgeting, work priorities, cost control, stakeholder and subcontractor management, documentation.
n
Construction Induction (White Card) and a current driver's licence.
n
Right to work in Australia; able to meet the security requirements of Defence projects.
n

Highly regarded
n
n
Construction/site experience alongside your engineering experience.
n
Understanding of protective coatings, surface preparation and hazardous‐substance handling.
n
AMPP/NACE CIP or coatings inspection certification.
n
Experience with blasting & painting and/or concrete rehabilitation works.
n
n
