Key Outcomes

'Roast Youth' grows as a fun and friendly community in which youth come to know Christ and mature in him
n
Evening Church grows into a warm, intergenerational community devoted to the Word, where people of all ages love coming to know Jesus and grow as deep disciples trained to serve him, with young adults particularly flourishing in faith and fellowship
n
St John's is transformed by the Spirit through the word and prayer, within many contexts, but with a key focus on Growth Groups
n
The development of effective and multiplying ministry teams across these ministries
n

Core Responsibilities
n
Youth
n
n
Roast Youth (Yr7-12 Friday Evenings): Provide leadership, vision, and direction for the Friday Roast Youth ministry, so that many teenagers come to trust Jesus and grow in their faith
n
Toast Youth (Yr7-9 Sunday mornings): Lead and develop the Sunday morning Junior Bible Study, shaping its direction so that teenagers deepen their understanding of God's word and grow in their love for Jesus
n
Systems Development: Oversee the systems, structures, and processes that support the effective functioning of the youth ministry team
n
Camps and Conferences: Lead and shape youth camps,
the evening church weekend away, and the KYCK youth conference, ensuring they promote gospel growth and disciple-making among teenagers
n
n
Evening Church
n
n
Evening Church Leadership: Provide leadership, vision, and direction for the evening congregation, so that people come to trust Jesus and grow as mature disciples
n
Ministry Development: Oversee recruitment, training, and leadership development pathways within the evening congregation, ensuring it is resourced with capable and servant-hearted volunteers
n
Community Building: Provide leadership for events that foster connection and growth within the evening congregation, including the weekend away, community gatherings, and social events
n
Preaching: Preach and teach the Bible approximately ***** times per year on Sundays
n
n
Transitions and Pathways
n
n
Ministry Transitions: Understand, prepare for, and track the key transitions between children's ministry, youth ministry, tertiary ministry, and ministry among young workers, ensuring that people are intentionally supported as they move between stages of life and ministry
n
n
Maturity
n
n
Growth Groups: Lead and oversee growth groups across the church, with a particular focus on developing existing and new leaders
n
Maturity Development: Oversee maturity-area leaders as they identify key discipleship needs across the church and develop appropriate responses
n
n
Additional Responsibilities

Undertake other duties as directed by the Rector

A committed Christian with a heart for Christ and his church

A proven track record of living above reproach
n
A life that consistently displays the fruit of the Spirit in prayerful dependence

Convictions
n

A commitment to the doctrines of the historic Anglican evangelical tradition, informed by Reformed theology and grounded in the authority, sufficiency, and clarity of Scripture
n
Passionate about discipling others through service, encouragement, and example
n
A firm belief in the importance of every member ministry/one another ministry
n
A proven ability to think strategically
n
Consistently executes plans
n
A leader of leaders who achieves goals through others
n
An organiser who can plan ahead and communicate clearly
n
A proven ability to preach faithfully and compellingly to all ages
n
Experience leading ministry systems and coordinating events with staff and volunteer teams
n
Highly developed qualified skills including clear written and verbal communication, time management, organisation, and systems thinking
n
n
Formal Qualifications
n
n
Higher education degree in theology
n
n
Applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a visa permitting employment in Australia
n
n
Experience in a purpose driven ministry team
n
More than five years' experience in a similar role
n
Currently ordained, or a candidate for ordination within the Sydney Anglican Diocese
n
n

n
In accordance with the remuneration guidelines of the Diocese of Sydney, including housing
