About The Opportunity
n
Traffic engineering isn't just about making cars move faster.
n
It's about finding the balance between vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, public transport and the communities using the network every day.
n
Working within an established Traffic Engineering and Planning team, you'll help assess, plan and deliver traffic and transport initiatives across South-West Sydney.
n
You'll evaluate infrastructure requirements across intersections, roads, cycleways, footpaths and other traffic facilities, making recommendations that improve safety, accessibility and network efficiency.
n
One day,



you might be providing traffic engineering input into a development application.
n
The next, you're reviewing a consultant-prepared traffic study, preparing a Traffic Committee report or helping progress a traffic infrastructure project through approval and implementation.
n
You'll also contribute to traffic and transport capital works projects, provide technical input across broader infrastructure programs and work with external agencies around public transport, major infrastructure and road safety matters.
n
And when traffic issues aren't straightforward?
n
You'll need to interpret legislation, standards and policy, weigh up competing priorities and turn the technical detail into a practical recommendation that actually works in the real world.

That puts the Traffic Engineering and Planning team right in the middle of some pretty important decisions.
n




You'll work alongside experienced traffic and transport professionals, internal engineering and planning teams, consultants, government agencies and the community.
n
About You
n
Traffic engineering is already familiar territory.
n
You'll bring tertiary qualifications in Traffic Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or robust experience working within a similar traffic and transport role.
n
You understand how a transport network operates beyond the textbook.
n
Traffic studies, intersection and road assessments, development applications, traffic management and transport infrastructure are all areas you've had exposure to.
n
You're comfortable working within relevant traffic and transport legislation, regulations, standards, policies and procedures, and using those requirements to make considered technical recommendations.
n
Writing reports doesn't phase you either.
n
Whether it's a technical assessment, Traffic Committee report, recommendation or project update, you can take complex information and turn it into something logical, well considered and easy to understand.
n
You're also comfortable dealing with people.
n
Consultants, planners, engineers, government agencies, residents, you can explain your position, negotiate when priorities compete and work towards a practical outcome.
n
Experience using traffic or transport modelling software will be highly regarded, as will relevant road safety or traffic management accreditations.
