n The Opportunity As a Career Medical Officer, you will provide comprehensive inpatient medical care under the supervision of Specialist Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs).
n Your responsibilities will include:
n

Conducting comprehensive patient assessments, including history taking and physical examinations
n
Managing inpatient care plans and documenting clinical findings
n
Ordering and interpreting investigations
n
Prescribing medications and initiating appropriate treatments
n
Responding to Medical Emergency Team (MET) calls
n
Coordinating patient transfers where required
n
Liaising with Specialists, General Practitioners, Allied Health and nursing staff
n
Participating in discharge planning from admission through to discharge
n
Counselling patients and their families regarding treatment plans
n
Participating in clinical handovers,



quality improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary meetings
n
Performing procedures within your scope of practice

The successful candidate will be confident in a range of core procedural skills including:

Venepuncture and intravenous cannulation
n
Airway management
n
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
n
Defibrillation
n
Intramuscular injections
n
Safe administration of intravenous medications and fluids
n
Blood product administration
n
Suturing, wound care and bandaging
n
Nasogastric tube insertion
n
Urinary catheterisation
n
