Job Description
This is your chance to join an early-stage Australian seed-funded start-up of 10 people, comfortably backed by $3.5M in funding from renowned VC (Venture Capital) firms, such as Black Nova, Antler and Main Sequence (CSIRO).

The Team & Key Responsibilities
n
You'll be part of an R&D; team of ML/AI, Electronics, Mechanical, Firmware, Optical Engineers.
n
As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) you'll work on-site with customers in the goods / food manufacturing, mining and construction & infrastructure industries, across 15 operational sites, some in regional Australia.
n
In this hands-on role, you'll sell, install / integrate the prototypes on-site, elicit customer needs and translate them into feature requests, while acting as the fastest feedback loop between the customer and the Product team. This includes:
n

Be the outward face of Zabidou: Embed with customers to understand the challenges they are facing. Build rapport and become their Trusted Advisor
n
Chance & Objection Handling: identify new opportunities,
suggest solutions and articulate the benefits to technology-agnostic customers
n
Feedback Loop: Proactively surface any technical concerns and own technical responses, whilst taking accountability for following up on corrective requests
n
n
2. Bridge the gap between the lab prototype → real-world production
n
n
Discovery: uncover integration requirements, dependencies, security and compliance requirements
n
On-site Resolution & Demos: to ensure the prototype is production-ready and fit for a successful deployment, you often have to build custom practical adaptations & tooling on client sites. Deliver compelling demos and walkthroughs
n
Be the eyes of Zabidou: identify friction, quality issues, product gaps, and edge cases from your field observation. Report with precision and attention to detail. Collaborate with Product and Engineering to align often messy real-world production processes to Zabidou's capabilities and customer requirements, while staying grounded in roadmap feasibility.

Key Skills & Experience:
n
You've freshly graduated from an Engineering degree, preferably in Mechatronics / Robotics. You bring:
n
n
Strong practical project experience
n
Strong team skills and calm execution under pressure (e.g., demonstrated excellence in sports, music/performance, high-stress kitchens, military-style orgs, etc.)
n
High motivation, bias to action, and pride in shipping real solutions that delight customers
n
Driver's licence and be willing to commute to our client's sites, some located in regional Australia
