Location: Canberra, ACT or Brisbane, QLD
n Contract: 12 months to 30 September ****, with possible extension
n Pay: $*****-$***** p/h including super (negotiable)
n Work type: Full-time
n Work arrangement: Hybrid, with specific arrangements agreed with your supervisor on a case-by-case basis
n Clearance: Must hold a current Baseline clearance or above
n Proposed start: 1 October ****, subject to candidate availability and onboarding

About the Role
n
This APS6 Finance Officer role supports our Federal Government client in the veterans and wellbeing space. You will work as a Finance Business Partner between business areas and the CFO function, with a strong focus on budget management. You will provide financial reporting, analysis and advice to senior leaders. The work covers forecasting, management reporting, project accounting, month end and longer-term financial planning.

What You'll Be Doing

Act as a key finance conduit between business areas and the CFO function
n
Provide financial advice and analysis to support business decisions
n
Prepare monthly management reports, variance analysis and forecast commentary
n
Monitor forecasts and advise on emerging financial impacts
n
Support month-end and EOFY processes, including accruals and prepayments
n




Coordinate budget development, expenditure forecasting and long-term planning
n
Provide project accounting and analysis for projects and investment decisions
n
Identify financial risks and issues and support sound finance processes
n
Help improve financial literacy and capability across the organisation
n

What You Bring (Essential Criteria)
n
n
You've worked as a Finance Business Partner or in financial and management reporting
n
You've prepared budgets, forecasts and financial analysis in a public sector workplace
n
You understand accounting theory and management accounting
n
You have strong project accounting experience
n
You can provide credible financial advice to senior stakeholders
n
You can manage month-end activities including accruals and prepayments
n
You communicate clearly in financial reports and advice
n
You're an Australian citizen
n
You must hold a current Baseline clearance or above
n

Nice to Have (Desirable Criteria)
n
n
CA or CPA qualified, or currently studying towards the qualification
n
Public sector finance business partnering experience
n
IT project accounting or financial project management experience in the public sector
n
