The Fair WorkCommission (the Commission) requires Australian citizenship as acondition of engagement.
To beeligible for employment with the Commission, thesuccessfulapplicantmust undergo and satisfy a National PoliceCheck.
About thePosition
Reporting to the Director, Conciliations Team within the DisputeResolution and Support Services Branch (theBranch),Conciliatorsareresponsibleforundertakinginformaldispute resolution of individual rights-based disputesincluding unfair dismissal and general protections involvingdismissal matters.
This work includesconductingconciliations.Conciliators also play a leadership role,mentoring and coaching others and promoting an understandingof dispute resolutionprinciples,processesandskillsinternally and externally.
Duties
Developandmaintainanunderstanding of the team's andBranch's impact on the Commission's strategicandoperationalobjectives.
Contribute to strategicplanning anddelivery of team, Branch andCommissionprioritiesandobjectivesincludingcontinuousimprovementof the Commission's dispute resolutionservice.
Deliverhighquality,timelyalternatedispute resolutionservices consistent with the Conciliators' Quality AssuranceFramework and other guidance materials.
Usetechnology effectively to undertake dispute resolution andrelated activities withinagreedtimeframesincludingtoschedule, prepare for and completepostconciliation/conferenceactivities such as prepare terms ofsettlement, close and refer matters to chambers andreportingrequirements.
Maintainspecialistdisputeresolutionknowledgeandexpertiseandnationalaccreditation as a mediator.
Supportthe development of self and others including:
participating inpeer to peer and externalobservationprograms,
guiding,coachingandmentoringothers (including relief conciliators) toachieve their best performance with a robust clientservice focus and culture, and
deliveringinternal and external training andpresentations.
Managecomplex and sensitive escalations, including resolving conflictand contributing tostrategicsolutions,problem-solvingand issues management forinternal and external stakeholders.
Buildand sustain productive working relationships, collaboratingwith a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders toachieve the Commission'sobjectivesand overcomeconflict.
Provideexpert,practicalandimpartial advice and support toCommission Members, the General Manager and seniorleadership.
Upholdand promote an inclusive, healthy, and safeworkingenvironment,modelling and promoting ethical behaviour andpractices consistent with the APS Code of Conduct andValues.
Engagepositively with risk and embed risk management in planning,decision making, and contributing toteamobjectives.
Workcollaborativelyand flexibly to support the branchtodeliverobjectives,including by performing otherdutieswhenrequired.
