Our client is a well-established manufacturer of Magnesium Oxide and Magnesium Carbonate and is seeking an Assistant Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Young, NSW.

Reporting to the Plant Manager/Managing Director, you will work closely with plant operators and maintenance tradespeople to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of a busy chemical manufacturing facility. Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience), plus superannuation. About the Role

This hands-on position is suited to an engineer with experience in heavy industrial or chemical manufacturing who enjoys working in a practical production environment. You will assist with maintaining plant reliability, supporting maintenance activities and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications, Experience & Skills
n
To be successful in this role you will have:
n
n
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
n
Minimum two (2) years' experience in a 24/7 chemical manufacturing environment involving rotary and vertical shaft kilns.
n
Strong ability to work effectively within a team.
n
Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
n
Solid written and verbal communication skills.
n




Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
n
Experience with CAD and ERP software (desirable).
n
n
Key Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Assist with the design and construction of equipment used for calcination of minerals, material conveying and handling, crushing, sieving, grinding and packaging.
n
Supervise the dismantling, refurbishment, assembly, installation and commissioning of plant and equipment.
n
Inspect plant and equipment to ensure optimum performance, including completion of operational, maintenance and housekeeping inspections.
n
Assist in planning and supervising preventative maintenance programs while implementing strategies to minimise equipment breakdowns.
n
Maintain inventory levels of critical spare parts.
n
Attend site outside normal working hours when equipment failures require urgent attention.
n
Maintain accurate maintenance records and compliance documentation.
n
Supervise maintenance personnel and contractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
n
Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to support maintenance, procurement and continuous improvement projects.
n
