The Role
n
We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a team working on the cranes and davits aboard Royal Australian Navy vessels at Garden Island. This is hands‐on maintenance and repair work in a Defence marine environment, with genuine long‐term potential for the right candidate.

What You'll Be Doing
n
n
Servicing, repairing, and maintaining shipboard cranes and davits
n
Diagnosing and rectifying hydraulic system faults
n
Performing mechanical fitting, fault‐finding, and overhaul work on deck equipment
n
Working alongside riggers, engineers, and Defence personnel in an active naval dockyard
n
Ensuring all work meets strict marine and safety standards
n
n




What You'll Need
n
n
Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter (essential)
n
Strong hydraulics knowledge and fault‐finding experience (essential)
n
Previous marine or shipboard maintenance experience (highly regarded)
n
Basic Rigging Ticket (desirable)
n
Australian Citizenship — mandatory for site access
n
Ability to pass Defence security screening
n
Strong safety focus and ability to work in a controlled dockyard workplace
n
n
