The Strand Hotel is looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at one of Yeppoon's best-known coastal venues.
n
Located right on the waterfront, The Strand has been part of the Yeppoon community for more than 60 years and is a genuine local favourite. With a busy bistro, functions, events and a diverse pub menu, this is a great opportunity for a chef who enjoys a fast-paced kitchen and wants to develop their leadership skills.

The Role
n
Working closely with the Head Chef, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen and help lead a team through busy services.
n
n
Supporting the Head Chef with the overall kitchen operation
n
Leading, motivating and developing the kitchen team
n
Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency
n
Running smooth and organised services in a high-volume workplace
n
Taking responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
n
Assisting with ordering, stock control and deliveries
n
Supporting food cost and waste management
n
Maintaining food safety, hygiene and WHS standards
n
Contributing ideas to menus, specials and kitchen processes
n
Helping create a positive and professional kitchen culture
n

What we're looking for
n
We're looking for a strong Chef with Sous Chef experience who is ready to take the next step or continue developing their leadership career.
n
n
Previous experience in a Sous Chef or senior chef role
n




Strong leadership and communication skills
n
Experience working in a busy commercial kitchen
n
The ability to lead a team during high-pressure services
n
A strong understanding of food quality, consistency and presentation
n
Good knowledge of stock control, ordering and food costs
n
A hands-on approach and positive attitude
n
Excellent organisation and time management
n
A genuine passion for hospitality and developing your career
n
n
