About the Role
n
Hastings Deering is looking for an experienced Field Service Electrical Fitter to join our Toowoomba team.
n
In this hands-on role, you'll work directly with customers across the Darling Downs region, providing expert electrical diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and commissioning support on Caterpillar equipment. No two days are the same, with a mix of fault finding, customer interaction and technical problem solving in the field.

As a Field Service Electrical Fitter, you will:
n
n
Travel to customer sites to diagnose and repair electrical faults on heavy equipment.
n
Perform testing, commissioning, installation, maintenance and repair of Caterpillar electrical systems and components.
n
Deliver timely, high-quality service to minimise customer downtime.
n
Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to customers and internal teams.
n
Complete service reports and documentation accurately and efficiently.
n
Support and mentor apprentices and developing tradespeople.
n
Maintain strong communication with customers while managing expectations and providing updates.
n

About You
n
A successful teammate will have:
n
n
Trade qualifications – Trade qualified Electrical Mechanic/Fitter or dual trade Electrician/Fitter with at least 3 - 5 years post-trade experience.
n
Caterpillar product knowledge – experience working on CAT machinery, systems and diagnostic tooling.
n
Strong troubleshooting skills – ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults independently.
n
Customer-focused mindset – confident in building relationships, managing expectations and providing clear updates.
n
Safety-first approach – committed to maintaining high WHS standards at all times.
n
Valid driver's licence – required to travel between customer sites across the Toowoomba region.
n
