About the role
n
We are seeking an experienced Flashbutt Welder to join our Production team in Mackay, QLD. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Flashbutt Welder is responsible for carrying out welding and associated production activities while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and productivity.

Key responsibilities
n
Perform flashbutt welding activities in accordance with approved company procedures and specifications
n
Undertake repair welding activities where required
n
Interpret and work from technical drawings, specifications and work instructions
n
Perform engineering measurements and calculations to support production requirements
n
Carry out mechanical cutting, grinding, chiselling and other fabrication activities as required
n
Safely operate hand tools, power tools, workshop machinery and associated equipment
n
Contribute to quality assurance initiatives through established quality systems and procedures
n
Utilise computer systems to support production, administration and reporting requirements
n
Maintain machine cleanliness and a protected, organised work environment through 5S principles
n
About you
n




Previous experience with welding would be desirable
n
Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications
n
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
n
Experience using 9-inch grinders, pneumatic chisels and associated workshop equipment
n
Experience using string lines, straight edges and related measuring equipment
n
Physically fit and capable of performing manual handling tasks in a manufacturing environment
n
Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
n
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
n
Crane experience advantageous
