Join VMIA as a Claims Specialist and play a key role in delivering client-centred liability claims management that supports the Victorian public sector. In this role, you'll manage complex claims end to end, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to building a confident and resilient Victoria through best-practice claims solutions.

Salary Range of up to $150,000 (total remuneration package inclusive of super).

Hybrid work environment – Enjoy a mix of office and flexible work arrangements with 3 days in our CBD office.

As a Claims Specialist in the General Liability Claims team, you will manage a portfolio of insurance claims from end to end, delivering timely, defensible, and client-centred outcomes. You will oversee all aspects of the claims process, including policy interpretation, reserving, negotiation, and resolution, while supporting VMIA's purpose of building a confident and resilient Victoria.

Key responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of liability claims from initiation through to resolution, ensuring defensible and client-focused outcomes.
n
Interpret policy coverage and legislative frameworks to assess indemnity, liability, and claim exposure.
n
Establish, monitor, and adjust claim reserves while assessing and negotiating settlements and recovery opportunities.
n
Build and maintain solid relationships with clients, legal providers, mediators, and other stakeholders.
n
Manage sensitive and complex client interactions, including mediations and settlement forums.
n
Collaborate with internal teams across Claims, Legal, Strategy, Operations & Insights, Underwriting, and Risk Advisory functions.
n
Ensure claims documentation and records comply with regulatory, audit, and governance requirements.
n
Contribute to process improvements, uplift initiatives, and knowledge-sharing activities across the team.
n
Identify trends and insights within claims portfolios to support product development and improved claims responses.
n
Promote a positive, accountable, and learning-focused team culture aligned with VMIA values.
