Job Description
This is a hands-on logistics coordination & booking role responsible for managing and executing day-to-day freight requirements, engaging with freight providers, obtaining and assessing quotations, maintaining accurate freight records, and ensuring transport movements are coordinated efficiently, compliantly and cost-effectively. The successful contractor will act as a central point between the Company's internal departments, freight providers and supply chain team, with a strong focus on service, cost control, load utilisation and freight visibility.

Key responsibilities
n
Experience using MachShip or other transport management/freight management systems to enter freight specifications and dimensions, obtain quotes, book freight, allocate carriers and track shipments.
n
Confident entering and reviewing freight dimensions, weights, quantities, destinations and service requirements within MachShip.
n
Experience managing freight bookings, tracking and delivery information through MachShip.
n
Communicating with various Company departments to understand and coordinate their freight requirements.
n
Obtaining and assessing quotes from freight forwarders and transport providers.
n
Engaging, coordinating and managing freight forwarders and carriers.
n
Ensuring freight is allocated to the appropriate provider based on cost, service requirements, delivery expectations and operational requirements.

Capturing freight information including costs, delivery type, destination,



freight mode and other relevant information for reporting and management.
n
Maintaining accurate electronic records and saving quotations and supporting documentation to the appropriate Cloud or server locations.
n
Ensuring freight movements comply with relevant Company standards, policies and procedures.
n
Monitoring and improving load utilisation to maximise transport efficiency and reduce unnecessary freight costs.
n
Understanding and applying different freight modes to achieve the best balance between ROI, service level and customer delivery requirements.

Applying a sound understanding of Incoterms to relevant freight movements.

About you
n
Demonstrated experience in freight management, transport coordination, logistics or supply chain.
n
Strong knowledge of Australian road freight and freight forwarding.
n
Experience obtaining, comparing and negotiating transport quotations.
n
Experience managing freight forwarders, carriers and other transport providers.
n
Exposure to international freight and Incoterms would be highly regarded but is not essential.
n
Strong commercial awareness and an ability to balance freight cost against service and delivery requirements.
n
An understanding of load utilisation and freight optimisation.
n
Robust attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
n
Confidence working with multiple internal departments and external transport providers.
