We are currently seeking a Part Time Assistant Chef to join our team in Bendigo, preparing healthy and nutritious meals and contributing to children's wellbeing in a supportive early learning environment.

n
As an Assistant Chef, you will support the preparation of meals and maintain a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen environment. You will work both independently and alongside the Centre Chef to ensure meals meet nutritional guidelines and children's dietary requirements.
n
Hours: Part time, 25 hours per week.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Assist with food preparation and meal service
n
Wash, peel and chop fruit and vegetables
n
Prepare meals and snacks in line with nutrition guidelines
n
Set up food and beverage trays for children
n
Clean kitchen, food preparation areas and utensils
n
Maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment
n
Support allergy management and individual dietary requirements
n
Ensure health and safety standards are consistently maintained
n
n
About You
n
We are looking for someone who is reliable, organised and passionate about providing nutritious meals for children.
n
n
Previous kitchen experience is essential
n
Experience in childcare or a similar environment is highly regarded
n
Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, or willingness to obtain
n
Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
n
Ability to cater for allergies and dietary requirements
n
Ability to work independently and maintain a clean workspace
n
Excellent communication skills
n
Positive and professional attitude
n
n
Essential Requirements
n
n
Current Working with Children Check
n
First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training, or willingness to obtain
n
Commercial Cookery qualification, Certificate III or higher, preferred but not essential
n
n
