Job Description
$88,000 – $95,000 per year + super + bonuses
n
Designing with clarity, collaboration, and care. That's our bond.
n
Opportunities like this don't come around often - this role has been held by the same person for almost a decade, and it's only now opening up. It's a rare chance to step into a senior seat at an established studio, reporting directly to our Director, Greg Bond.
n
We're a small, close-knit team where everyone's hands‐on and every project matters, so we need someone agile, who is equally at home in big-picture design thinking and day‐to‐day detail. With at least 5 years' experience and a proven flair for residential design, you're ready to lead projects and grow your career in a studio that values sophisticated design and approachable service.
n
What we're looking for
n
Tertiary qualification in architecture
n
Registered architect, or actively working toward registration
n
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in an architectural studio environment
n
A demonstrated flair for residential design - we'll ask to see a portfolio that proves it
n
Strong proficiency in ArchiCAD (or a quick study of new BIM tools), Enscape, and the Adobe Creative Suite, with the ability to produce high-quality renders that bring a design to life for clients
n
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills - you're a design collaborator, not a lone voice
n
Confident articulating and presenting design ideas, including on camera for social media content
n
A keen eye for detail and a passion for creating innovative, functional, and visually stunning designs
n
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
n
Ongoing knowledge of local building codes, regulations, compliance requirements, and suppliers
n
Time on site, not just at the desk - because knowing how things are built creates better design.
n
In our studio, the way we work is just as important as what we design.
n
We're intentional about how we come together as a team, and the service we offer our clients.
n
We strive to always:
n
design beautiful spaces; the kind that steal your gaze and make you linger
n
demystify the design process to encourage collaboration with our clients
n
be smart about what can be achieved within our clients' budgets, briefs, and blocks
n
not shy away from challenges or debate because it's the push and pull of design that makes our work better
n
constantly pursue growth to learn, connect and improve our practice and professionalism.
n
You'll be a great fit if you are:
n
An effective communicator. You listen intently, share ideas generously, and give and receive feedback openly. Clients and teammates are always fully informed - and you're just as comfortable bringing that clarity in front of a camera,
since sharing our process on social media is part of the role.
n
A true collaborator. You see design as a shared pursuit, not a personal statement - good ideas can come from anywhere in the room. We're looking for a design partner, not a Fountainhead.
n
Meticulous about the details. You're across every project milestone, up to date on codes and planning requirements, and known as a "safe pair of hands" who manages risk well.
n
Commercially savvy. You keep multiple projects on track, help clients make crucial decisions, and treat deadlines as sacrosanct - switching gears without sacrificing quality or getting lost in perfectionism.
n
Conditions we offer
n
Ability to negotiate versatile arrangements, including reducing the role to a 4-day week
n
Additional week's leave (with loading), above the standard 4 weeks
n
Generous end-of-financial-year performance-based bonus, determined on clear criteria
n
Extra leave to support mental health and wellbeing
n
Monthly reward and recognition program
n
$**** annual professional development benefit to be used at your discretion
n
Weekly team design workshops
n
Hybrid working, except on team connection days on Tuesdays and Thursdays
n
Flexible start time up to 9.30am to support working parents or personal pursuits
n
Personal Christmas bonus
n
Additional paternity leave
n
Salary commensurate to experience
n
Cultural fit is just as important as your design credentials, so please keep this in mind when writing your application.
