The Tasmanian Family and Sexual Violence Alliance (TFSVA) is lutruwita/Tasmania's peak body for victim-survivors and family and sexual violence services.
We provide a coordinated and strategic response to family violence, sexual violence and child sexual abuse across Tasmania. Our work is focused on transforming the culture and systems that perpetuate gender inequality and violence, and contributing to a Tasmania where all people experience safety, dignity and agency.

About the role
We are seeking an experienced and thoughtful
Lived Experience Engagement Lead
to provide leadership across TFSVA's lived experience engagement work.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role will help ensure the perspectives and expertise of people with lived experience can safely and meaningfully inform TFSVA's policy, advocacy, projects, consultation and organisational practice.
You will lead and strengthen TFSVA's lived experience framework and trauma-informed approaches, develop meaningful opportunities for victim-survivor members to engage in our work, support sector consultation and contribute to organisational learning and continuous improvement.
This is a role for someone who understands that meaningful lived experience engagement requires more than consultation. It requires trust, choice, agency, accessibility,



careful attention to power and a strong commitment to trauma-informed and culturally safe practice.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Provide expert advice and oversight for TFSVA's lived experience framework, including its implementation, evaluation, review and continuous improvement.
Lead the review and strengthening of trauma-informed engagement approaches, policies, procedures and organisational practices.
Support trauma-informed leadership across TFSVA, including workforce capability, reflective practice, organisational learning and risk management.
Provide advice on ethical practice, safety, accessibility, privacy, remuneration and power in lived experience engagement.
Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of engagement approaches for TFSVA's individual victim-survivor members.
Create accessible and meaningful opportunities for victim-survivors to connect, contribute and help shape TFSVA's priorities.
Establish clear feedback processes so people can see how their contributions have informed TFSVA's work.
Coordinate member communications, resources, events and capability-building activities that support participation, connection and wellbeing.
Plan and facilitate trauma-informed consultations, workshops, roundtables and other engagement activities.
Build effective relationships across victim-survivor communities, the specialist family and sexual violence sector, government and other stakeholders.
Contribute to TFSVA planning, reporting, policy development and organisational improvement.
Model TFSVA's values and contribute positively to a collaborative, reflective and accountable organisational culture.




About you
You will bring solid experience in trauma-informed practice and participatory engagement, together with the judgement, sensitivity and relationship skills needed to work well in complex environments.
Essential selection criteria
You will have:
Strong experience in trauma-informed leadership, including applying trauma-informed principles to practice, stakeholder relationships and organisational or team culture.
Strong experience using participatory engagement approaches that support meaningful involvement, shared decision-making and independent voice.
Demonstrated ability to work with victim-survivors in a trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally safe way.
Strong communication, facilitation and consultation skills, with the ability to build trust and navigate sensitive or complex issues.
Strong organisational and coordination skills, including the ability to plan and facilitate accessible meetings, consultations and engagement activities.
The ability to work collaboratively with victim-survivors, sector organisations, government and other stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgement.
Desirable
It would also be beneficial if you have:
Experience working in a member-based peak body or not-for-profit environment.
Experience developing and facilitating training, mentoring or learning and development activities.
Other requirements
The successful applicant will require:
A current Tasmanian driver's licence and capacity to travel within Tasmania.
A current Working with Vulnerable People registration.
Consent to a police check if selected as the preferred candidate.
