About The Role
n
We are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to help design, build, operate & evolve our local data platforms, driving advanced analytics & data-driven decision making.
n
This role will lead the design, build, operation & optimisation of enterprise-scale data platforms on Microsoft Azure. You will bring deep expertise across Azure services including Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Data Lake Storage & Microsoft Fabric, combined with robust engineering, architecture & problem-solving skills.
n
You will play a key role in delivering scalable data solutions, defining data strategy, strengthening governance & security, and partnering with business & technology teams to unlock the value of data.

Top Role Responsibilities
n
n
Deliver high-quality data engineering solutions & project milestones within agreed timelines & scope
n
Ensure effective platform operations, lifecycle management & service reliability
n
Resolve production issues & service requests in a timely manner
n
Maintain data loads & platform performance in line with defined SLAs
n
Collaborate with Business Analysts, Architects, Data Engineers & business stakeholders
n
Champion engineering best practices, continuous improvement & knowledge sharing across the team
n
n
To be successful,



you will have
n
n
10+ years' experience in Data Engineering or Data Warehousing roles designing scalable, resilient data solutions
n
Strong understanding of modern data engineering principles, Lakehouse architecture & data lifecycle management
n
Expertise in SQL, data modelling, performance tuning & database optimisation
n
Experience with data quality, validation, monitoring & troubleshooting
n
Knowledge of data governance, security, privacy & compliance frameworks
n
Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Git & Azure DevOps
n
Experience with data ingestion frameworks & event-driven architectures
n
Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Microservices & APIs
n
Experience within Banking, Financial Services & Insurance (BFSI) environments is highly regarded
n
Microsoft Certifications
n
n
Location & Working Arrangements

This role must be based in Sydney & offers a flexible hybrid working model of office & working from home.
