Key Responsibilities
n
n
Daily Care and Routine Support
n
Supervise children closely at all times.
n
Assist with meals by serving food and feeding babies.
n
Manage hygiene routines, including nappy changes and toileting.
n
Help at rest time by preparing beds and comforting children.
n
Maintain clean environments by sanitising toys and cleaning surfaces.
n
Set up activities such as arts and crafts and sensory play.
n




Engage in play to encourage children's social development.
n
Observe child behaviour to help document their learning progress.
n
Prepare learning areas both indoors and outdoors.
n
n
Safety and Wellbeing
n
n
Identify hazards in the indoor and outdoor play spaces.
n
Apply first aid for minor bumps and scratches under supervision.
n
Follow hygiene policies to prevent the spread of germs.
n
Monitor emotional wellbeing to ensure children feel safe and secure.
n
n
Professionalism and Training
n
n
Complete study modules and attend training sessions on time.
n
Applythe theory you've learned directly toyour daily room practice.
n
Communicate with families politely during drop-offs and pick-ups.
n
Work with educators by listening to feedback and taking direction.
n
n
Skill & Experience
n
n
Active supervision to keep moving children secure.
n
Clear communication for interacting with kids and teams.
n
Active listening to follow instructions from senior educators.
n
Time management to balance work tasks with study.
n
Basic storytelling and singing to engage young groups.
n
Problem-solving to handle minor conflicts between children.
n
High emotional patience during challenging behaviours or crying.
n
Genuine empathy to comfort distressed or anxious children.
n
Strong adaptability to handle sudden routine or schedule changes.
n
High energy to keep up with physical daily demands.
n
Cultural awareness to respect diverse family backgrounds.

Experience (Helpful but not Essential)

Babysitting or caring for younger family relatives.
n
Volunteering at community playgroups or kids' sports clubs.

Work experience in retail, hospitality, or customer service roles.
n
Coaching or tutoring young primary-aged school children.

Mandatory Legal Requirements

Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) or blue card.
