Job Description
This is a unique opportunity for someone who understands the used vehicle market, can accurately assess vehicles and values, and knows how to maximise returns through the wholesale market.
You will be responsible for
running our wholesale department from end to end
, including managing wholesale stock, dealer relationships and our regular wholesale tender process.
The Opportunity
This role will suit an experienced
vehicle appraiser, wholesaler, buyer or senior used car professional
who has strong market knowledge and commercial judgement.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day‐to‐day operation of the SCL Automotive wholesale department
Appraise and value vehicles accurately using current market conditions
Identify vehicles suitable for wholesale and determine the best disposal strategy
Manage wholesale stock, including pricing, ageing and stock movement
Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesale dealers and buyers
Run and manage SCL Automotive's regular wholesale tender
Coordinate tender vehicles, pricing, presentation and dealer communication
Manage the tender process from start to finish
Negotiate with buyers to maximise wholesale returns
Monitor market trends, values and demand across different vehicle segments
Work closely with dealership Used Car Managers and General Managers
Ensure vehicles are processed and disposed of efficiently
Maintain accurate records and reporting around wholesale performance
Identify opportunities to improve wholesale processes,
returns and stock turn
About You
Proven experience in vehicle appraisal, wholesale, used car buying or automotive sales
Strong knowledge of the Australian used vehicle market
Excellent understanding of vehicle values and market pricing
Strong negotiation and commercial skills
The ability to accurately assess vehicles quickly and confidently
Existing relationships within the wholesale/dealer network would be highly regarded
Excellent communication and relationship‐building skills
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
A results‐driven and commercially focused mindset
The confidence to work autonomously and take ownership of the department
Most importantly, you will be someone who understands that buying and disposing of vehicles is a numbers game — you know when to hold, when to retail and when to wholesale.
