The Team

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital and major referral centre. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
Team structure:consultants, registrars, junior medical staff, midwives, nurses, allied health and administrative/support staff.
Clinical services:obstetrics, antenatal and postnatal care, labour and birth, gynaecology, emergency care, surgery, outpatient services and specialist/high-risk services.
Role of the team:multidisciplinary team that works together to provide safe, patient-centred care.
Teaching and research:department works closely with the University of Tasmania and has a role in training medical students, junior doctors and specialist trainees.
Referral role:RHH provides tertiary and specialist care for patients from across Tasmania, including complex cases referred from other hospitals.
Community focus:the team contributes to equitable access, improved maternal and women's health outcomes, and the broader health needs of the Tasmanian community.
Workplace culture:leadership, collaboration, communication, professional development and support for staff.

The Role

Provide high-quality obstetric and gynaecological care
Assess and manage patients across inpatient and outpatient settings
Participate in emergency, theatre and on-call services
Support teaching, supervision and multidisciplinary teamwork
Contribute to quality improvement, research and clinical governance

You will need

Medical degree and current AHPRA registration
Relevant obstetrics and gynaecology clinical experience
Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and teaching
Ability to participate in on-call and emergency services as required

Details of appointment

Multiple positions available.
Fixed term full time and part time, day worker positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as you would like to join our team for up to 4 months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $222,789 - $319,701 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 - $319,701 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
Salary range is in accordance withMedical Practitioners Agreement ****

In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year
Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $30,254 per annum, pro rata
Subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid
Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $17,483 per annum, pro rata
Travel and relocation assistance support is available

Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $***** per week per person, or $***** for a family.

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
Holds specialist registration; or

Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; or





Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.

Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
Recognition as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist by the completion of Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) training or equivalent

Experience in Obstetric Ultrasound
