We are seeking an experienced Contracts Officer to join our
Contracts & Procurement team within the Corporate Strategy &
Performance Directorate.
About the Role
Working under the guidance of the Coordinator Contracts and
Procurement, you'll provide professional procurement, tendering and
contract advice while ensuring probity, transparency, compliance
and value for money.
You'll work closely with internal stakeholders to understand
their needs, develop practical procurement solutions and deliver
successful outcomes.
We're looking for someone who can take a
"Frank and Fearless" approach—providing clear, honest advice and
confidently upholding probity requirements while maintaining
positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide qualified advice on procurement, tendering and
contract management.
• Develop procurement strategies that respond to business needs and
deliver value for money.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and
external suppliers.
• Act as a probity custodian, applying sound judgement to complex
procurement activities.
• Identify commercial and contractual risks and recommend
appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, registers and systems.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Local
Government Act, and City policies and procedures.
• Support continuous improvement of procurement processes,
templates and systems.
• Ensure effective handover to contract owners following contract
award, including key obligations and dates.
• Share knowledge and contribute to a collaborative,
high-performing team.
About You
You'll bring:
• Experience in procurement, contract management, contract
administration or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of procurement and contract management
principles and practices.
• Understanding of relevant legislation and WHS requirements.
• Solid stakeholder engagement, communication and
relationship-building skills.
• Excellent research, analytical, problem-solving and
organisational skills.
• The ability to prioritise competing demands and work effectively
under pressure.
• Confidence using information systems and technology.
• The ability to explain complex procurement and contractual
requirements in clear, plain language.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to
provide "Frank and Fearless" advice while maintaining positive and
professional relationships.
Why Join Us?
At the City of Wanneroo, you will have the opportunity to
contribute to meaningful projects and services that support one of
