Job Description
Appointment Setter/ Business Development Consultant
n
Melbourne CBD | Appointment Setter /Business Development Consultant | Full-time | 6-month contract
n
Build relationships. Create opportunities. Help grow a business that makes a difference.
n
Tradewind Australia is looking for an experienced Business Development Consultant to join our Melbourne team on an initial six-month contract.
n
This role is focused on starting meaningful conversations with prospective and existing clients across our Social Services divisions, identifying opportunities and connecting organisations with the right Tradewind consultant.
n
If you enjoy speaking with people, are confident picking up the phone, can build rapport quickly and know how to turn an initial conversation into a genuine business opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.
n
About the role
n
You'll work closely with our recruitment teams to help identify and develop new client opportunities, while also reconnecting with organisations already familiar with Tradewind.
n
Your focus will be on creating quality conversations and booking meetings for our consultants, rather than managing the full recruitment process yourself.
n
Day to day, you will:
n
n
Proactively engage prospective and existing clients by phone and email
n
Identify the right contacts within organisations and build relationships with key decision-makers
n
Introduce Tradewind, our services and the sectors we support
n
Understand an organisation's recruitment needs and identify where Tradewind may be able to assist
n
Book qualified meetings for our recruitment consultants
n
Re-engage previous clients and explore opportunities to work together again
n
Follow up leads and opportunities consistently
n
Maintain accurate records and activity within our CRM
n
Work through targeted prospect lists while identifying new opportunities
n
Develop a strong understanding of our Education and Social Services markets
n
Provide additional support to our recruitment teams during periods of leave or increased activity, including candidate phone screens and other recruitment-related tasks
n
n
What we're looking for
n
You may come from appointment setting, business development, outbound sales, recruitment, account management or another phone-based role.
n
More importantly, you'll be someone who is comfortable starting conversations and building relationships with people you haven't spoken with before.
n
You'll ideally bring:
n
n
Previous experience in business development, appointment setting, outbound sales, recruitment or a similar environment
n
Confidence speaking with prospective clients over the phone
n
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
n
The ability to ask good questions, listen and identify opportunities
n
Resilience and confidence when a conversation doesn't immediately lead somewhere
n
A professional and engaging phone manner
n
Strong organisation and follow-up skills
n
Initiative and the ability to manage your own activity
n
A collaborative mindset and willingness to support different teams when required
n
n
You don't need to be the loudest salesperson in the room. We're looking for someone who can build rapport, represent Tradewind professionally and create genuine opportunities through consistent, thoughtful activity.
n
Why Tradewind?
n
Tradewind Australia is a specialist recruitment agency working across Education and Social Services.
n
The organisations we work with provide essential services to communities, and we take the responsibility of connecting them with great people seriously.
n
We are a people-focused, values-led business with a supportive culture and a strong emphasis on relationships, development and giving our employees the flexibility to do their best work.
n
When you join Tradewind, you can expect:
n
n
An initial six-month contract with potential to extend or become permanent depending on business requirements
n
A supportive and collaborative team environment
n
Regular learning and development opportunities
n
Access to Tradewind's wellbeing initiatives and employee benefits
n
Regular team and company social events
n
The opportunity to work across two established recruitment markets
n
Exposure to different areas of recruitment and business development
n
The autonomy to take ownership of your role while having support around you when you need it
n
n
A little about how we work
n
Tradewind operates in a hybrid environment, so this role will suit someone who is comfortable managing their own activity and creating momentum independently.
n
You'll have support from experienced recruitment leaders and consultants, but you won't be working from a heavily scripted call centre environment.
n
We trust our people to take ownership, use their judgement and find the approach that works best.
n
Success in this role will come from consistency, curiosity, resilience and your ability to have genuine conversations with clients.
n
Interested?
n
Selected candidates will be invited to our Melbourne office for a first-round interview on Tuesday 1 September.
n
We'd love to meet someone who can bring energy, initiative and solid relationship-building skills to the role, while representing Tradewind in the way our clients and candidates have come to expect.
