Aquaculture Operations Officer & Tour Guide

As an Oyster Farm Aquaculture Officer, you/'ll gain hands-on experience across oyster farming, pearl farming, marine operations, oyster shucking and tourism. Working alongside experienced professionals, you/'ll develop practical skills both on the water and onshore while helping deliver exceptional visitor experiences.

This role is ideal for someone who loves working outdoors, has a passion for the marine workplace and aquaculture, enjoys educating guests, and is looking to build a long-term career with opportunities to progress into farm operations and management.

About Us

Broken Bay Pearl Farm is a working pearl and oyster farm located on the beautiful Hawkesbury River, just an hour north of Sydney (half an hour from Sydney/'s North Shore). We are passionate about sustainable aquaculture, producing premium Australian Akoya pearls and Sydney Rock Oysters while sharing our story with visitors through immersive tourism experiences.

About the Role

/n

This is a diverse, hands-on role combining aquaculture, marine operations, tourism and guest engagement.

/n

Your responsibilities will include:

/n

Aquaculture & Farm Operations

/n

/n

- Assist with oyster and pearl farming operations.

/n

- Maintain oyster leases, farm infrastructure and equipment.

/n

- Assist with oyster grading, handling and husbandry.

/n

- Support pearl harvest and other seasonal farm activities.

/n

- Maintain vessels, pontoons and marine equipment.

/n

- Follow environmental,



biosecurity and workplace safety procedures.

/n/n

Marine Operations

/n

/n

- Operate commercial vessels in accordance with AMSA requirements.

/n

- Conduct vessel checks and routine maintenance.

/n

- Assist with passenger loading and safety.

/n

- Work confidently on the water in varying conditions.

/n/n

Tour Guiding & Guest Experience

/n

/n

- Deliver engaging and educational tours.

/n

- Share the story of Australian pearl and oyster farming.

/n

- Provide outstanding customer service to guests from Australia and around the world.

/n/n

Oyster Shucking

/n

/n

- Shuck Sydney Rock Oysters to a consistently high standard.

/n

- Maintain excellent food safety and hygiene standards.

/n

- Educate guests about oyster farming, pearl farming and oyster appreciation.

/n/n

Administration & Record Keeping

/n

/n

- Maintain accurate production and operational records.

/n

- Complete daily checklists and maintenance logs.

/n

- Accurately enter farm, inventory and operational data into company systems.

/n

- Assist with stocktakes and inventory management.

/n/n

- Current Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency (or close to obtaining).

/n

- Current Driver Licence.

/n

- National Police Check (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).

/n

- Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).

/n

- Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual outdoor work.

/n

- Ability to work weekends, public holidays and in varying weather conditions.

/n/n
