Organisation Profile
Our client is a well-established, nationally recognised infrastructure business, with a robust, live project pipeline. With a values-driven, family-style culture, the business has a genuine track record of developing people internally and investing in its finance function as it continues to grow.

Role Overview
This is a broad, commercially focused Financial Accountant role, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. Rather than sitting purely in compliance, you'll be a genuine business partner to operational leaders. Providing the financial and commercial insight that shapes decision-making across live projects and the wider business.

This is a strong first move for those from Big4/Mid Tier backgrounds looking to step into industry with real commercial exposure. From statutory and tax compliance through to budgeting, forecasting, capital reviews and commercial/contract advisory support.

Key Responsibilities

- Meet Group financial reporting requirements
- Analyse and manage project work-in-progress and work-in-hand schedules
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly
- Manage statutory and taxation matters including GST, PAYG, payroll tax, income tax and annual declarations
- Manage overheads to budget and drive achievement of overhead savings
- Work closely with operational management to provide monthly P&L; and cash-flow forecasts, and analyse trends
- Manage the divisional annual budget process
- Provide sound financial and commercial advice to the business
- Advise and support business unit managers with reporting, project reviews, forecasts and strategy
- Advise on the financial implications of contractual issues,

supporting decision-making on contracts, deeds and other agreements
- Review capital requirements with the business
- Actively participate in system and process improvements

Why This Role Stands Out

- A genuine first step into industry, with commercial exposure well beyond what most Financial Accountant roles offer
- Direct partnering with operational leaders, not just month-end compliance
- Broad remit spanning reporting, tax, budgeting, forecasting and contract/commercial advisory
- Backed by a national business with a strong, live project pipeline across multiple states
- Values-driven, family-style culture with a real focus on developing people and internal career growth

Ideal Candidate
You're from Big 4 or mid-tier or someone with strong infrastructure experience ready to step into a genuinely broad, commercial role rather than a narrow compliance function. You think commercially, are comfortable getting close to the operational side of a business, and want to build direct relationships with non-finance stakeholders from day one.

Key Requirements

- Big 4 or mid-tier trained, currently in practice and looking to make your first move into industry or strong infrastructure expereince
- CA/CPA qualified
- Tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce or business
- Positive working knowledge of financial processes, accounting principles and tax concepts, with the ability to analyse and reconcile accounts
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation and communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Full working rights in Australia
