Women's and Children's Physiotherapist - Make a Lasting Impact at Flinders Medical Centre

Part-time physiotherapy role at Flinders Medical Centre shape meaningful care for women and children at one of South Australia's leading tertiary hospitals.

About the role:

The Physiotherapist - Women & Children is accountable to the nominated Clinical Lead Physiotherapist (Womens Health or Paediatrics) and ultimately to the Allied Health Manager, Women & Children, for delivering high quality evidence-based physiotherapy services across the Women's & Children's Division. The allocated areas may be one of or combination of units across the Women's & Children's division including Neonatal, Paediatric and/or Women's Health and encompass both inpatient and outpatient services. The incumbent operates under limited supervision and as an active member of multi-disciplinary teams. The incumbent is responsible for contributing to service improvement, quality assurance, research, teaching and learning including student supervision and assisting with AHP1 supervision and mentoring.

Duties for the role will include:

- Engage patients and their families or carers actively in care planning and goal setting to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Apply current evidence-based physiotherapy knowledge and skills to provide individualised or group-based care, including complex care, to referred women, babies and children. Care will involve comprehensive physiotherapy assessment and development of management and therapy plans and ultimately discharge planning.
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team, actively participating in ward rounds, meetings, and case conferences. Provide physiotherapy knowledge to facilitate its integration into broader patient care.
- Ensure appropriate documentation of assessments, intervention, and patient management plans in accordance with SALHN policies and procedures.
- Liaise with relevant external organisations and clinicians in accordance with SALHN policies and procedures, to exchange patient information, ensuring optimal patient care through effective communication

About you:

- Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
- Honed physiotherapy skills in the clinical assessment and management of Women, Babies & Children.
- Ability to effectively prioritise workloads, problem solve and meet deadlines.
- Extensive and broad clinical experience as a physiotherapist within an acute teaching hospital setting.
- Well-developed and effective written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to relate to people of various ages, cultures and backgrounds.
- Experience in the training and supervision of physiotherapists and students
