About the Role

We're looking for an experienced and technically strong Senior Steel Drafter to join our Design team in Maryborough, QLD.

This is a senior technical role, bringing advanced SolidWorks and steel detailing expertise to our modular handrail, balustrade, barrier, walkway, platform, stair and ramp systems. You'll strengthen our pre-construction design offering, producing accurate, buildable documentation and helping resolve technical, interface and constructability issues before they reach fabrication and installation.

You'll also be our Design team's first line of engineering verification, carrying out load and capacity checks in-house, and play a senior technical role in our move toward native SolidWorks and DriveWorks driven design automation. You'll report to the Design Manager and take day-to-day technical direction from the Product Integrator.

Your days will be busy and wide-ranging, and will include:





- Producing detailed steel design and fabrication documentation, and modelling parts, assemblies and weldments in SolidWorks to Moddex standards.

- Detailing connections, welds, fasteners and surface treatment in line with Moddex specifications and relevant standards.

- Providing senior design input at tender and pre-construction stage, including constructability review, interface and clash resolution.

- Carrying out engineering load and capacity checks using SolidWorks Simulation and hand calculation.

- Preparing and coordinating submissions to Moddex and external consultant engineers for certification and sign-off, including PS1, RB certification and RPEQ.

- Applying and upholding AS1100 drawing standards, along with relevant structural and product standards.

- Managing SolidWorks PDM data, revision control and file structure for the Design team.

- Contributing to our SolidWorks and DriveWorks automation program.

- Providing technical guidance, drawing checking and mentoring to Design Coordinators, drafters and CAD detailers.

- Liaising with Sales, Estimating, Engineering, Supply Chain, Production and installation partners.

About You

You'll thrive in this role if you're technically strong, detail-focused and comfortable being the go-to for complex steel detailing and engineering verification. You take initiative, communicate clearly and enjoy mentoring others while continuing to sharpen your own skills.

You’ll ideally bring:

- Minimum seven years' experience in steel detailing or structural drafting, including time at senior, lead or checking level.

- Demonstrated advanced SolidWorks experience within a manufacturing,



steel fabrication or engineered products environment.

- Demonstrated experience verifying structural capacity, whether by finite element analysis, hand calculation or both.

- Proven pre-construction or tender-stage design experience on commercial, civil or infrastructure projects.

- Trade qualification, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in engineering, mechanical or structural drafting, or equivalent demonstrated experience.

- Demonstrated ability to work to Australian Standards and produce compliant, issue-ready documentation.

- SolidWorks certification (CSWP or CSWE) and SolidWorks Simulation certification would be highly regarded.

- Experience with Tekla Structures, DriveWorks or another 3D steel detailing/automation platform is a bonus.

- Experience working to New Zealand standards in addition to Australian Standards.

- Experience mentoring or supervising drafting teams.

- Current right to work in Australia.
