St John's Lutheran School is a co-educational day school and a highly regarded educational institution located in Kingaroy, Queensland. Operated by the Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District, the school has an enrolment of approximately 720 students from Prep to Year 12.
Situated less than three hours northwest of Brisbane and 2.5 hours west of the Sunshine Coast, Kingaroy is a thriving township boasting a diverse range of industries, from agriculture to mining.

The Opportunity
The Deputy Principal supports the Principal in ensuring quality teaching and learning within a Christian context. Working collaboratively with the Director of Secondary, Director of Primary, and the Pastoral Care and Learning Support teams, the Deputy Principal upholds the school’s mission and values.
The Deputy Principal will have significant responsibility for leading and cultivating a positive culture, particularly within the secondary sector. The role is relational, administrative,
and community-oriented, with the possibility of some teaching duties as required.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant will:
- Be registered, or be eligible for registration, with the Queensland College of Teachers.
- Be accredited, or be willing and eligible to gain accreditation, through Lutheran Education Australia.
- Demonstrate a strong personal Christian faith, evidenced by active involvement in a Christian community.
- Hold current First Aid qualifications, or be willing to obtain them.
- Have completed, or be willing to undertake, Lutheran Education Australia’s Leadership Development Program (LDP).
Key Competencies
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A high level of communication and interpersonal skills in working with students, parents, and staff.
- An ability to collaborate with all stakeholders within the school community.
- Strong leadership and management capabilities,
including the ability to engage and mentor staff.
- The capacity to make complex decisions with appropriate consultation.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, school management systems, and other relevant software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Terms of Appointment
The Deputy Principal is a five-year tenured leadership position, reporting directly to the Principal. The role is expected to commence in Term 1, 2027.
