The Prospect
Join the AIR6500 program and lead the development of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) capability for one of Australia's most advanced and strategically significant Defence programs. As the AIR6500 ILS Lead, you will provide technical leadership and strategic direction for ILS engineering activities, ensuring supportability considerations are embedded throughout the system lifecycle.
Working closely with customers, engineering teams, subcontractors and industry partners, you will drive the delivery of ILS products, services and support solutions that enable long-term operational success. This is an excellent opportunity to influence a complex Defence capability, lead a specialised engineering function, and contribute to a program that supports Australia's national security objectives.
Key responsibilities
The AIR6500 ILS Lead's primary responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic direction and technical leadership for the AIR6500 ILS engineering program and support ecosystem
- Leading the development and maintenance of the Integrated Support Plan and associated ILS deliverables
- Acting as the primary ILS engineering interface for customers, subcontractors and internal Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
- Aligning ILS activities to program milestones, engineering reviews and materiel release requirements
- Reviewing and assuring the quality of ILS deliverables, subcontractor outputs and program artefacts
- Managing ILS team planning, resourcing and stakeholder engagement to support successful program delivery
What you’ll bring
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Extensive experience leading Integrated Logistics Support activities within complex Defence programs, including ASDEFCON environments
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience delivering engineering acquisition and support solutions across the system lifecycle
- Strong understanding of supportability, sustainment and logistics engineering principles
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience working directly with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including assessing options and balancing competing program priorities
- Experience working in Agile engineering environments and knowledge of Defence capability domains, MBSD or MBE principles will be highly regarded
- Eligibility for, or ability to obtain, an Australian NV‑1 security clearance
- Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
