Role Snapshot

Our Senior Town Planners provide high-quality statutory and strategic planning advice to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, government, industrial and mixed-use projects throughout Melbourne and Victoria.

As a Senior Town Planner, you will take ownership of your project portfolio, providing expert planning advice, managing complex projects and acting as a trusted adviser to clients. You will work with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating with Team Managers, Directors, planners, architects, consultants and other project stakeholders.

The role provides an opportunity to lead projects from initial concept and feasibility through to planning approval, including complex Planning Permit Applications, Planning Scheme Amendments, appeals and VCAT matters.

How You Will Contribute

- Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of complex statutory and strategic planning projects across Melbourne and Victoria, from initial feasibility through to approval.

- Provide high-quality, commercially focused planning advice, including preliminary advice, development feasibility, planning strategy and interpretation of Victorian planning schemes.

- Prepare,



lodge and manage Planning Permit Applications, Planning Scheme Amendments, amended plans, conditions, appeals and related statutory processes.

- Manage relationships and negotiations with clients, Councils, referral authorities, consultants and other stakeholders to achieve positive planning outcomes.

- Prepare expert evidence and represent clients at VCAT, Planning Panels, Council meetings and other relevant forums.

- Identify planning risks and opportunities and develop practical strategies to resolve complex planning issues.

- Mentor and support junior and intermediate planners, contributing to technical quality and team development.

- Contribute to business development, client relationship management, proposals and other initiatives that support the growth of the planning team.

Our Ideal Person

- Tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Urban Planning and Development, or an equivalent relevant qualification, with significant Victorian planning experience.

- Solid knowledge of Victorian planning legislation, the Victorian Planning Provisions, planning schemes and statutory processes.

- Demonstrated experience independently managing complex planning projects, including Planning Permit Applications and ideally Planning Scheme Amendments.

- Experience with VCAT matters, Planning Panels, Council negotiations and stakeholder engagement.

- Excellent report writing,



communication and analytical skills, with the ability to provide clear, practical and commercially focused planning advice.

- Strong client management and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines and budgets.

- Ability to interpret architectural, engineering, landscape and development plans and work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.

- A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to work autonomously and mentor less experienced planners.
