Senior Data Governance Analyst
Salary: $130,000-$140,000 + Super

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Governance Analyst to help strengthen data governance, quality and accountability across a complex organisation.
Working closely with business and technology stakeholders, you will support the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, standards and processes. You will help establish clear ownership of data, improve data quality and ensure information is managed consistently, securely and in line with organisational and regulatory requirements.
This permanent chance would suit someone who can combine strong data governance knowledge with practical stakeholder engagement and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of enterprise data governance frameworks, policies and standards.
- Establish and maintain data ownership, stewardship and accountability across the organisation.
- Work with business units to identify critical data elements and define appropriate controls.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries, metadata and data lineage documentation.
- Assess data quality and identify issues relating to accuracy, completeness, consistency and integrity.
- Facilitate data governance workshops and working groups with business and technical stakeholders.
- Support the investigation and resolution of data quality and governance issues.
- Define and monitor data governance metrics, controls and reporting.
- Promote consistent data management practices across business areas.
- Ensure governance activities align with privacy, security,
risk and regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance and advice to stakeholders on data governance responsibilities and best practices.
- Contribute to broader data transformation, reporting and information-management initiatives.
Skills and Experience You will bring:
- Five to eight years’ experience in data governance, data quality, data analysis or data-focused business analysis.
- Strong SQL and data-analysis capabilities across large and complex datasets.
- Hands-on experience in data profiling, validation, reconciliation and root-cause analysis.
- Experience defining business terms, KPIs, data requirements and data-quality rules.
- Strong workshop facilitation, requirements elicitation and stakeholder-engagement skills.
- Experience translating business requirements into data definitions, quality rules and measurable controls.
- Practical experience with, or strong exposure to, data governance and metadata-management platforms.
- Experience working with data warehouses, data lakes and cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with relational databases.
- Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to documentation.
- The ability to handle confidential, personal and sensitive information appropriately.
Experience with platforms such as Collibra, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, Atlan, Alation or IBM Data Governance, or similar tools, will be highly regarded.
Experience working across AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform environments will also be valuable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data, Business or a related discipline.
- Data governance, data management, data quality or DAMA-related certifications or training are desirable.
