PBE Rutherford Mining is continuing to grow its project pipeline, delivering complex electrical and infrastructure projects across a range of demanding environments.
As the business grows, so does the need for strong operational leadership across its site-based workforce. Based at Tomago, you’ll oversee a team of electricians, apprentices, leading hands and trade assistants, with regular travel across active project sites in both NSW and Queensland.
You’ll report directly to the Projects Director and work closely with Program Managers, Project Managers, HSEQ, HR, clients, and site management teams.
The distinction is important: the Program and Project Managers run the projects; you own the workforce and site execution.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring labour is effectively deployed, people are developed and supported, and site standards, processes and controls are consistently implemented across the project portfolio.

What you’ll be responsible for:

You’ll be the operational leader for PBE’s site-based electrical workforce, providing visible leadership across multiple projects and ensuring people, processes and site standards are aligned to deliver protected and effective outcomes.

- Leading and managing electricians, apprentices, leading hands, and trade assistants across multiple projects.
- Planning and coordinating labour allocation in conjunction with Program Managers and Project Managers.
- Ensuring workforce capability, qualifications, competencies and licensing requirements remain current and project ready.
- Visiting active project sites regularly to review site implementation,



workforce performance, and operational standards.
- Ensuring Site Management Plans and associated controls are practical, effective, and consistently applied.
- Identifying gaps between documented processes and what is actually happening on site and driving practical corrective actions.
- Monitoring workforce utilisation, productivity, and resource requirements across the project portfolio.
- Supporting Project Managers and Program Managers with labour forecasting, workforce planning and site-level operational issues.
- Providing practical leadership and guidance to leading hands and site teams when challenges arise.
- Leading performance discussions, development reviews and workforce capability initiatives.
- Supporting apprentice progression, mentoring emerging leaders, and building long-term workforce capability
- Maintaining a strong culture of safety, accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Working closely with HSEQ to support compliance, incident investigations, corrective actions and safe work practices.
- Providing management with clear reporting on workforce utilisation, site compliance, capability, performance, and emerging operational risks.

What you’ll bring:

You’ll be a visible, practical leader who understands that successful project delivery starts with having the right people, capability, structure and standards in place.
Your experience managing or supervising electrical or trade-based workforces across multiple projects or sites will be highly relevant.
You’ll be comfortable moving between the office, workshop and project sites, building credibility with tradespeople while also engaging confidently with Project Managers, clients and senior leadership.

- Demonstrated experience leading multi-site teams within electrical, construction, industrial, mining, infrastructure, or similar project-based environments




- Strong workforce planning, labour allocation and resource management experience across concurrent projects.
- A genuine passion for developing tradespeople, apprentices and emerging leaders
- Strong understanding of site-based operational processes, Site Management Plans, SWMS, permits and HSEQ controls
- The ability to identify where site practices aren't meeting expectations and drive practical improvements
- Strong people management skills, including experience with performance, development, engagement and retention
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across trades, project teams, clients and senior management
- A hands-on and visible leadership style, with the confidence to engage directly with site teams.
- Trade or tertiary qualification, particularly Electrical, will be highly regarded.
- An ability and willingness to travel regularly between project sites.
